Monsoons

Our daily monsoon is moving in - dark clouds, lightening and thunder, rain, hail, and huge temperature drop, in varying combinations, that last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or two. Sparky has been more affected by them this year it seems (as evidenced here). He is whining and whimpering in the other room.

Geoff took the kids to Grandma's today to give me some extra time for planning, organizing, and preparing for school which we are diving into Monday morning. I don't want to take up much of that precious time, but am taking a little break right now.

G requested cinnamon rolls for his birthday breakfast.
(Mary - Do you miss these?)

And here is some of the frybread from the Indian tacos he requested for dinner.
For entertainment on his birthday we made "goo," which we hadn't done for some time. It is a mixture of Borax, glue, water and paint, and is the weirdest stuff. The kids will play with it for hours. It spreads out into a puddle after it sits for a minute.L chose this brown color of paint and G said this looked like cow liver/kidney (can't remember which he said - but either way thought it was funny and wondered where he learned what one looked like anyway!!???).

If you want the directions to make your own "goo," leave a comment or email me and I will get them to you.

I wanted to do a garden update, but think the pictures must still be in the camera and I need to get back to school prep work!

  1. What a *sweet* way to start a birthday!
    Happy Birthday, G!
The goo looks like fun- but I'm not ready for that, yet! =P
Hope the storms are past and you got all caught up on planning...
