BYE, BYE THREE YEAR-OLD...
HELLO, FOUR!

To celebrate L's birthday, we had a little tea party.

With lunch...
A few simple crafts...
A story...Tea and lots of sweets... Gifts...
And ended the day with a family walk, "picnic" on the living room floor, and a movie.

Here's the birthday girl after it was all over.
Priceless!

All week I've thought about how this birthday is significant because we are moving farther away from babies and little people around here. She is somewhat of a paradox, too. She enjoys being the baby and there are vestiges of her babyhood that she still clings to... But she also wants to do nearly everything big brother and sister do, ride her bike in the street, and be in the middle all of the neighborhood kids' (comprised of 6-10 year olds) play, picking up any and all speech and attitude that is not entirely becoming on a three- now four-year-old. The days of complete and total "innocence" around here seem to be gone.

    The tea party looks beautiful...

My "baby" is 12 now. And she still treausures the position while doing her best to keep up with her older siblings. =/
