Chocolate zucchini...boats?: Another high-altitude baking misadventure

I've had this recipe for chocolate zucchini bread for a long time, but haven't made it for quite a while. It is really mislabeled, for the ingredients render if more of a dessert. Perhaps "cake" would have been more fitting than "bread?" Don't let the inclusion of a vegetable in the title and ingredient list cause it to be mistaken for health food! But no matter what you call it, it tastes good. When made at 7000 ft. though, it is no beauty to behold:

Oh, and if anyone has hints or suggestions for cleaning gas stove grates, feel free to share. Those ones were soaked in Oxi-Clean for hours then scrubbed ruthlessly, and still look like that!

  2. ANYTHING with a vegetable in it is considered a healthy food and not to be associated with dessert in my house. As ofr the grates...mine have never looked so good!

  3. As long as it tastes good, I don't worry about how it looks! =D

No help on the stove, though yours looks clean... Mine is an ongoing battle.
