County fair and last day

One final post from our time in Indiana.

This is one of the two beef barns, both of them full of animals, at the county fair. Ah the nostalgia, having spent more than 10 weeks of my life there in the past.

Check out these rabbits. There were three or four of them - Angoras it said - that you could hardly tell one end from the other, they were so covered in hair.

This is some of the butterfly catching paraphernalia. After reading Romancing Your Child's Heart, making a butterfly net for B while we were in Indiana seemed like it would be a good thing to do. Of course G and L had to be involved. Guess two more will have to be made now, but since there is rarely a butterfly to be seen here around our home in Arizona, motivation is low.

Another related thing to figure out is how to keep G from squelching his sister's interests, but that topic is for another, more thoughtful post, when I haven't had 6 (or less) hours of sleep a night for 3 weeks in a row.

One afternoon I hadn't seen them for a while and wasn't sure where they had gone to. I found them at the far end of the barnyard doing this: Jumping and climbing on big round bales. I've been meaning to post about the fact that farm life is dangerous. This was of relatively minor risk compared to some things they did, and some of the other risks of being around there.

And one last visit to the calves in the pasture. Coming home is bittersweet. Good to see Geoff. Sad to leave mom and dad. We weren't done having fun there yet, either. But back to reality now.

  1. Angoras are so gorgeous!

Looks like everyone had a wonderful visit. Every child should get to experience the pace of country life! =D
